At Bianca Spender, every fabric is chosen with care. Each one a reflection of our commitment to tread lightly on the earth while crafting garments with enduring appeal.

More than 50% of each seasonal collection is made using remnant fabrications, breathing new life into what already exists. This approach not only reduces waste but resists the cycle of overproduction that continues to challenge the fashion industry. It’s a creative constraint that invites possibility, transforming forgotten materials into garments that are anything but disposable.

We pair this with a strong focus on natural fibres, favouring materials that are biodegradable, breathable, and inherently aligned with environmental wellbeing. These fibres form the backbone of our collections. Not just for their beauty, but for their lower impact across the garment's life cycle.

The importance of this approach cannot be overstated. Fabric production alone is responsible for more than 60% of total fashion industry emissions, with textile dyeing and finishing processes contributing roughly 20% of global industrial water pollution. By choosing remnant stock and consciously selecting materials, we actively reduce the demand for virgin textile production and the environmental toll that comes with it.

Innovation, for us, is not about the newest trend or technology, it’s about reimagining the way things have always been done. It’s about designing with limits in mind and turning them into something liberating. Through this lens, creativity becomes a tool for conservation, and material choice becomes an act of climate action.

With every piece, we aim to prove that responsibility and beauty are not opposites, but partners in the art of thoughtful design.

MINDFUL MAINTENANCE

Caring for your garments is a quiet ritual – an act of respect for the materials, the makers, and the world they move through. At Bianca Spender, we believe that clothing should be treasured, not tossed. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to last, and with the right care, it can live beautifully through many moments and memories.

Mindful maintenance is about slowing down. About tending to your garments with the same intention with which they were made. From natural fibres to delicate weaves, each textile calls for its own kind of attention – a gentle hand, a little patience, a softer cycle.

Here, we invite you to discover the art of preservation. Because when you care for your clothes, you honour their story and extend their lifecycle.

WOOL

Wool is a resilient natural fibre that benefits from rest between wears. Allow garments to breathe by airing them out after use, rather than over-washing. Spot clean where possible, and when washing is needed, opt for a gentle cold hand wash or use a delicate wool cycle with a specialised detergent. Dry flat to preserve shape and store folded, not hung, to avoid stretching.

SILK

Silk is the essence of softness and strength. Handle with care and wash gently by hand in cold water with a silk-friendly detergent or dry clean for best results. Never wring or twist; instead, press moisture out with a towel and lay flat to dry away from sunlight. To preserve its lustre, avoid direct heat and steam from a distance using a protective cloth.

COTTON

Cotton is breathable and strong, becoming softer with time. Wash in cold or warm water using a mild detergent, and line dry where possible to maintain structure and minimise environmental impact. To reduce creasing, shake out before drying and press with a warm iron if needed.

DENIM

Denim improves with age and wear. To preserve its character, wash sparingly – airing out between wears often suffices. When cleaning is required, turn inside out and use cold water on a gentle cycle. Avoid tumble drying; instead, hang dry to retain shape and avoid shrinkage. Spot clean to extend wear between washes.

CREPE

Crepe’s textured elegance benefits from careful laundering. Dry clean is recommended for structured or tailored crepe garments. For more relaxed styles, a gentle hand wash in cold water may suffice. Always reshape while damp and dry flat. Use a cool iron with a cloth barrier if needed, pressing lightly to preserve texture.

CASHMERE

Cashmere is luxurious and delicate, deserving of thoughtful care. Gently hand wash in cool water with a wool-safe detergent, being careful not to stretch or wring. Press excess water with a towel and dry flat, away from heat. Store folded with cedar to protect from moths and allow time to rest between wears.

SATIN

Satin’s smooth, glossy finish calls for a delicate touch. Hand wash in cold water with a gentle detergent, avoiding harsh agitation. Do not wring but gently press out water with a towel and hang or lay flat to dry. To maintain its sheen, iron on the reverse side with a cloth barrier, using the lowest heat setting.

CHIFFON

Ethereal and light, chiffon requires soft handling. Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent. Avoid twisting or scrubbing. Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight. Steaming is preferable to ironing to maintain its airy drape without risking damage to the weave.

POLYESTER

Polyester is durable and low maintenance but still benefits from conscious care. Turn garments inside out before washing on a gentle, cold cycle to reduce microfibre shedding. Avoid high heat when drying and air drying is considered the best approach. If ironing is needed, use a low temperature and press lightly to avoid shine.

VISCOSE

Viscose is soft and fluid, but prone to shrinkage if overexposed to water or heat. Hand wash in cold water or use a gentle cycle inside a wash bag. Lay flat to dry, reshaping while damp. Iron inside out with a low to medium setting to maintain its smooth finish.
