Commemorating 15 years of Bianca Spender, we look to sustainable and ethical practices that have been at the heart of the brand since the very beginning. Proud to champion a more sustainable fashion cycle, Bianca Spender uses her Fashion Week platform to inspire environmental change.

The immersive presentation of Bianca Spender’s SUMMER ’23 collection at AfterPay Australian Fashion Week saw all elements of the runway deeply considered, with longevity and the environment at the fore.

We look to find existing materials to form the foundations of the collection, with remnant deadstock fabrications making up for more than 60% of the pieces presented on the runway.

The re-use of all set design elements was integral to the design of the catwalk, and were created to have a second life, through re-purposing long after the runway is over.

“I wanted to use the Fashion Week platform to promote how sustainability can be creative, seamless, and inspiring. One of the key things I did this year was to put anything we designed for the catwalk through the lens of longevity. There needs to be a deep consideration of minimising waste.”

- Bianca Spender

Longevity is unfailing, and Bianca thoughtfully designs each piece to exist in your wardrobe for many years to come. Fabrics of the highest quality are considered and curated, guided by functionality and purpose.

Further establishing our deep focus on the preservation of the environment, Bianca Spender is proud to partner with LG and Harvey Norman throughout AfterPay Australian Fashion Week.

LG’s innovative LG Styler looks to extend the lifespan of clothing and reduce environmental waste by gently dry-cleaning garments from the comfort of your own home.

The power of LG Steam technology reduces wrinkles while retaining the integrity of the design and a gentle dry feature lessens the likelihood of fabric shrinkage and creasing. An innovative sanitary cycle reduces the presence of common allergens and bacteria from clothing and fabrics and odours are removed through the refresh feature.

“LG is proud to partner with Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW) and Harvey Norman once again this year to showcase the importance of caring for premium garments with innovative laundry appliances. AAFW is a celebration of the fashion frontier and demonstrates that as fabrics and clothing design evolves, Australians need cutting-edge laundry appliances that can keep up with these trends and maintain the integrity of these garments. Both the LG WashTowerTM and LG Styler® displayed at AAFW this year demonstrate our company’s commitment to delivering premium garment care to maintain and extend the lifespan of our most beloved items of clothing. Now available in new colourways to suit a variety of home interiors and aesthetics, more Australian households can enjoy the convenience of premium garment cleaning and care from the comfort of their home, all whilst extending the wear of their favourite garments thereby reducing their environmental footprint.”
