AAFW 2023 | BEHIND THE RUNWAY WITH LG
Commemorating 15 years of Bianca Spender, we look to sustainable and ethical practices that have been at the heart of the brand since the very beginning. Proud to champion a more sustainable fashion cycle, Bianca Spender uses her Fashion Week platform to inspire environmental change.
The immersive presentation of Bianca Spender’s SUMMER ’23 collection at AfterPay Australian Fashion Week saw all elements of the runway deeply considered, with longevity and the environment at the fore.
We look to find existing materials to form the foundations of the collection, with remnant deadstock fabrications making up for more than 60% of the pieces presented on the runway.
The re-use of all set design elements was integral to the design of the catwalk, and were created to have a second life, through re-purposing long after the runway is over.
“I wanted to use the Fashion Week platform to promote how sustainability can be creative, seamless, and inspiring. One of the key things I did this year was to put anything we designed for the catwalk through the lens of longevity. There needs to be a deep consideration of minimising waste.”
Longevity is unfailing, and Bianca thoughtfully designs each piece to exist in your wardrobe for many years to come. Fabrics of the highest quality are considered and curated, guided by functionality and purpose.
